Caricaturista estadounidense. Creció en California, y aunque sus padres eran criollos, él pasaba por blanco. Comenzó a dibujar caricaturas, después de que una caída desde un andamio le impidió seguir pintando casas. Su primera tira cómica,
Lariat Pete, apareció en 1903 en el
San Francisco Chronicle, seguida de varias otras. Su tira más conocida,
Krazy Kat, apareció por primera vez en 1910, y siguió publicándose por más de 30 años en los periódicos de
William Randolph Hearst. La fantasía, el dibujo y el diálogo de
